Celebrating International Women's Week

Two years back on this day we started our Women Achiever initiative. In our small way, we profile women achievers across the world, those who have braved all odds to carve a niche for themselves and be what they wanted to be. Keeping up with the spirit of our endeavour we are celebrating International Women’s Week by profiling three prominent women from different genres.
We start the series with Sudha Gupta - Chairperson of Presidium Senior Secondary School and Mother's Pride Pre-School, followed by Monica Seth- First Indian lady pilot in Indian coast and Director of Altitude Consultants Pvt Ltd and we end the week with interview of Versha Rai, Owner and Designer at Tutu & Tassel.

Below are the short synopsis of these three prominent ladies:

Sudha Gupta, Chairperson of Presidium Senior Secondary School and Mother's Pride Pre-School

Education is the backbone of growth of every child, and a good education ensures that these students become great leaders and achievers in their field. We got a wonderful opportunity to interact with Ms. Sudha Gupta who is working towards grooming these future leaders. Her name needs no introduction, she is the founder of Mother's Pride - a chain of 100+ preschools and also established Presidium Senior Secondary school. As a renowned educationist, she has authored 1000+ articles and books on parenting, featured in multiple newspapers, magazines, and recipient of several awards in the fields of education.

The very thought that only happy and motivated teachers make the education rewarding for children, resulted in her starting 'The Knowledge Tree' - an academy imparting skills development for teachers.

Ms. Gupta, also works for social causes focused towards empowerment and growth of people with special needs through her NGO Sparsh. Infact, she was one of the prominent guests on the occasion of inauguration of T20 Cricket World Cup for the blind, which India won early this year.

It was an honor and a humbling experience getting to know her, about her journey in the field of education entrepreneurship.

As the saying goes - 'Sky is the Limit'. This is literally proven by our patron of today - Ms. Monica Seth, who is the First Lady Pilot in the Indian Coast Guard. Desire to touch the sky and fly like a bird. Flying over high seas, guarding the Indian coast against smugglers and poachers has been her daily routine. Being the First Lady Pilot in a purely male bastion hasn't been an easy journey for her. But she took the plunge. Post her flying career with the Coast Guards she pursued higher education in Aviation and currently running an Aviation Management Consulting firm specializing in setup of new Airlines, operations improvement and strategy.

In her own words "Anything is achievable if your passion is true, conviction is strong and focus is firm". Through her sheer determination, passion and focus on her goal she has overcome all odds and hence is a true inspiration for many.

After having kids most of us don’t like to go back to work and Versha was also in the same boat, wanting to spend more time with her children while keeping her passion alive and that’s where she came up with the idea of Tutu & Tassel.  Tutu & Tassel is an online store where everything you find is handmade.

It is truly inspirational how Versha left behind her prosperous career and took the decision to start her own business. Entrepreneurship is truly challenging as it involves building a brand from scratch and we can’t help but admire how Versha converted her dream and passion into a business opportunity for herself.

It is always a pleasure to interact with women who not only achieve work life balance but also work in the field that makes them realise their dreams. To know their full story and how they achieved their dreams log onto our website this week - http://www.womenachievers.net/
